Why use a filter holder instead of the paper packaging?

The original packaging does not protect the filters: it lets moisture and kitchen grease through, it deforms in the cupboard, and it releases filters in a bundle rather than one at a time. Deformation is the part that reaches the cup. A creased cone filter no longer sits flush against the dripper wall, a gap opens along the crease, and water runs down there past the coffee bed. That share never gets extracted and dilutes the finished cup. A holder that stands the filters at the cone angle solves both problems: the stack keeps its shape, and pulling one filter leaves the rest in place. The Filterblock is made from concrete and cork, weighs 370 g and therefore stays put while you take a filter out with one hand. Its slot sits at a 60 degree angle and holds up to 40 size 1 cone filters. It is made in Germany.

The Filterblock: a handmade concrete filter holder

A good filter holder does more than keep your filters tidy, it lifts the whole coffee corner. That is exactly what the Filterblock is made for: cast from premium concrete, it keeps your conical paper filters fanned out and within reach, simple, robust and with an industrial character that fits any kitchen or café.

Why a concrete filter holder?

Concrete brings precisely the qualities a good filter holder needs. Let's look at them together:

  • Stable & within reach: The precise 60° angle keeps up to 40 size 1 cone filters for 1 to 2 cups perfectly fanned out, so you grab one with a single hand.
  • Robust & long-lasting: Premium concrete is solid and hard-wearing, standing up to everyday use with ease.
  • A true one-off: Every Filterblock is hand-cast in Leipzig and unique in texture and tone.
  • Surface protection: The integrated cork base keeps countertops and tables free of scratches.
  • Aesthetics: Raw concrete meets warm cork, a modern, industrial look with natural contrast.
  • Compact & space-saving: Light and slim enough to fit into any coffee corner.

Filterblock and Graycano: a tidy brew bar

The Filterblock is made for your conical filters, such as our Filter GC01 in size 1. Set it next to your Graycano Dripper and everything you need to brew is right at hand. That's how the Filterblock becomes the small but essential heart of your coffee corner.

Frequently asked questions

The difference lies in moisture absorption and in how steady the holder stands, not in a durability promise. Wood moves with the humidity in the room, it swells and shrinks, and in a kitchen it often stands next to steam. Concrete takes up hardly any moisture and keeps its shape. The second point is weight: the Filterblock weighs 370 g, so it stays put when you pull a filter out and you do not need a second hand to hold it down. The cork underneath keeps it in place and protects the worktop.

You do not. If you brew rarely and keep the pack in a closed cupboard, you can do without one. A holder becomes useful with daily use and anywhere the coffee corner stands in the open: the filters keep their shape, they take up less kitchen grease and moisture, and a single filter can be taken out without digging through the stack. The Filterblock holds up to 40 size 1 cone filters, which is a good five weeks at one cup a day.

The Filterblock is hand-cast in Leipzig, Germany from raw concrete. Each block carries the subtle marks of the hands that made it, a slight variation in texture and form that makes every Filterblock unique.

Because each one is cast by hand in an individual mold. The raw concrete captures the exact texture of the casting process, meaning no two blocks are identical. That's a feature, not a flaw.

The Filterblock holds up to 40 conical coffee filters, perfectly aligned and always within reach.

No, a cork base is integrated into the bottom of every Filterblock to protect your countertops and tables.

The Filterblock is designed for standard size 1 conical filters, including our own Filter GC01. It keeps them perfectly fanned out so you can grab one with one hand.
