Brew Lab: entries and readings used to improve the calculator

As soon as you change a value in the Brew Lab, we store your entries. These include the recipe settings (method, dose, ratio, grind, temperature, grinder, dripper, paper, bean details, water), the aroma notes and taste feedback you select, and the calculator’s own forecast. We keep one record per session and update it with your latest state. We also note how many calculations were made and when the first and the last one took place. “New recipe” starts a new record. This happens without an account and without you having to press a button.

If you enter measured values under “correction”, such as TDS, beverage weight, brew time, actual dose or temperature, we store them as well and link them to your session’s record.

To understand in which countries the Brew Lab is used, we derive your country from your IP address. We do this on our own server by matching the IP address against a locally stored database (GeoLite2 by MaxMind). The IP address is only processed briefly in memory. It is neither stored nor sent to MaxMind or any other third party. All we store is the country code, for example “DE” or “AT”. We also store the language of the page you use and your browser’s preferred language.

These records carry no name, no email address and no IP address. If you are signed in, the record is linked to your account. If you delete your account, the record remains without any personal reference. If you are not signed in, it carries no personal reference from the start.

The purpose is to check the accuracy of the Brew Lab against real brews, to understand how the Brew Lab is used, and to develop our offering for individual countries. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving our services (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object to this processing at any time; a message to support@graycano.com is enough.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. However, we may share your information:

With Your Consent: For specific actions where you have explicitly authorized sharing.
