Comandante engineered the COMANDANTE® X25 TRAILMASTER for adventures in the Bavarian Alps, with the same "no compromises" attitude outdoor enthusiasts bring to their equipment choices. It is built lightweight, robust and functional, as a coffee companion wherever you take it.

The TRAILMASTER’s polygonal unibody is injection-moulded from Comandante’s proprietary QTP® material, designed for stability and longevity. It is resilient and made for use in harsh conditions. The DUNE edition is equipped with the NITRO BLADE® burr set.

Every X25 Trailmaster® comes with a food-safe silicone pop lid that seals the grinder’s internals from the elements. Load the beans before the hike, pop the lid at the summit, grind and enjoy a brew with a view.

What makes a hand grinder travel-ready?

A hand grinder is travel-ready when it meets four conditions. It has to survive knocks and drops, so it should do without glass parts and have a body that neither dents nor cracks. It has to travel closed, so neither dust nor moisture reaches the burrs and no beans end up loose in the backpack. It should be light and compact enough to fit next to a stove and water. And it has to grind as evenly on the trail as at home, because on a camping stove you can hardly compensate for an uneven grind through temperature or brew time. The Comandante X25 Trailmaster is built for exactly this use. Its polygonal unibody is injection-moulded from QTP® material, a food-safe silicone pop lid seals the grinder, and it ships with a QTP® container instead of a glass jar. It grinds with the Nitro Blade® burr set that is also found in the C40. The X25 is made in Germany.

The X25 in the Graycano setup

For pour over you grind medium-fine. The Brew Lab converts its recommended grind size into clicks, and the X25 Trailmaster has its own entry there. On the trail, brew with the Graycano Dripper and the matching Filter GC01. At home, the coffee drains into the Pourcano.

Frequently asked questions

Both grind with the Nitro Blade® burr set, the difference lies in the body and the intended use. The C40 has a stainless steel body with a hand-finished wood veneer and comes with a polymer and a glass bean jar. The X25 Trailmaster has a polygonal unibody in QTP® material, a silicone pop lid against the weather and a QTP® container instead of glass. If you mainly grind at home, choose the C40. If you regularly take the grinder with you, the X25 is the better fit because it does without glass parts. In the Brew Lab both use the same click scale.
